The iOS 18.0 build 22A5316k is the official Beta 4 update and Public Beta 2 of iOS 18, released to Apple developers on July 26, 2024, followed by a public beta release a few days later.
This update introduces several new features and improvements:
Accessibility
In this version, Apple has addressed issues encountered by iOS users, such as:
- Users may not be able to play newly added background sounds (Fire and Night).
- Sound Recognition and Sound Actions may not work on iPad Pro models with M4.
- Haptic Sounds may disappear after the first entry into Accessibility settings until Settings is restarted.
AccessorySetupKit
- Bug Fix: Resolved an issue where users could not change the display name or SSID of accessories.
Activity Sharing
- Bug Fix: Fixed incorrect text display in notifications about workouts completed by friends.
Ad Attribution Toolkit
- New Feature: AdAttributionKit now supports re-engagement measurement, allowing for click attribution for already installed apps. Re-engagement also supports deep linking into app content via Universal Links.
- Bug Fix: Resolved an issue where developer feedback could not be sent after Developer Mode was enabled for an extended period.
App Intent
- Bug Fix: Resolved issues with static properties of AppIntent, including title and description not being thread-safe.
- Bug Fix: Addressed protocol compliance errors caused by @Parameter and @Property wrappers without parameters.
- Known Issues: @UnionValue types currently only work as intent results. Using a @UnionValue as an intent parameter or entity property type results in a compilation failure.
App Store
- New Feature: On-demand resource limits have been increased for iOS 18, iPadOS 18, tvOS 18, and visionOS 2. Refer to the on-demand resources size limits for more information.
Apple Cash
- Known Issues: With Tap to Cash, you can send and receive Apple Cash by holding two iPhones together. An Apple Cash account is required for transactions. Payments will be returned to the sender if the receiver doesn’t set up an Apple Cash account or verify their personal information within 7 days. For Developer Beta, Tap to Cash payments cannot exceed $250 per transaction. Transaction limits may change at any time during the Developer or Public Betas without notice.
